First Gen 444: these are among our favorite firearms independent of cost or value. We bring in everyone we can. Lst made in approx 1965 and made until approx 1972. Distinguished by the 24" barrel, 1/2 magazine and unique Monte Carlo Comb. This one is unique in 2 ways: its the 1970 100 year anniversay model, celebrating Marlins 100th birthday and its virtually as new condition. Based on what later came to be knows as an 1895 action but had not been at the time this was made in 1970 and were known only as the model 444. Comarable to 45-70 and may be loaded up to approach Elephant Round balistics ( as i recall the case was based on the 458 Win) It is a terrifc gun for Moose, Elk in the timber and bear. They are also in our opinion singularly good looking rifles. This one still has the origina Marlin recoil pad, sights and even the Marlin Bullseye under the stock (often these have fallen out and are missing) is sitll in place. If there is a mark or flaw of significance, we've missed ...it is simply and extraordinary example of a special gun almost 55 yrs old. If you've been holding out for an exceptional example of one of these ....this is you're gun!!!!
