Description:
ANTIQUE 1873 .44-40 CALAIBER MUSKET, #489XXX, MADE 1895. Many of these 1873 muskets were made after the turn of the 20th century mainly for export and are not considered "antique" Pre-1899 Winchesters. This early example still retains fine blue on the receiver that is lightly mixing plum/brown mainly on the edges. The 30" barrel blue is aged and mixing plum/brown with original military style rear sight and excellent sharp markings. Original dust cover, tight action with strong safety half-cock on the hammer. Fine walnut butt stock and forend with only normal light handling marks and tight wood to metal fit. Correct swivels and best of all a bright, sharp excellent bore. One of the better examples from the 1890s.
