This is the No. 40 Pocket Rifle manufactured by J. Stevens A. &T. Company in Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts from 1896-1916. This example is complete and in excellent condition featuring the front combination globe and blade and rear folding peep and V notch adjustable sights and includes the correct, numbered to the gun, detachable shoulder stock. The barrel retains about 80-85% of the original blue finish with a slightly mottled appearance showing use marks and light scratches. The frame, trigger-guard and shoulder stock retain virtually all, 97-99% of the original bright nickel plating and the trigger and hammer show similar amounts of the bright nitre blue. The walnut grips rate about excellent with most of the original varnish showing some very minor handling marks. This is one of the best examples of these neat pocket rifles that we have seen as they often were heavily used. FFL or C&R SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
