( Sold - S.M. ) This is a Model 1895, chambered in the .405 Win., made in 1911. It has a 24" tapered round barrel, shotgun butt, a positive ,smooth action. It has the rare Express sights - 1 standing rear blade, and 3 folding leafs. Front sight is a fixed blade with a Pat,date. The bore is bright, shiny with excellent lands and grooves. I only see one slight shadow about 1" down from the muzzle - overall this bore is very, very nice - and should be an accurate shooter. The rifle has a stock number on the butt - I've seen this on one other very similar rifle - on Leroy M. site - a 405 takedown , in a very similar configuration, with similar number stampings on the stock. This rifle very likely belonged to a safari outfit, and went to Africa. 1911 was the year T. Roosevelt came back from his safari. This rifle saw some use, and likely took game - it did get some rust and light corrosion and was refinished at some point. This was a common maintenence practice for the Brits. The rifle still has a great look, good edges, great character with most of that refinish remaining - but showing scattered light freckling. The wood is solid, still proud of the metal, with scattered marks, minor scars and impressions. Overall a fine rifle. ***** Must ship to a C&R/FFL. Please know your local laws. Thanks. *****
