Description:
This fantastic custom Ruger was made for the 1979 NRA Convention by Dave McLain. It has a heavy barrel that is chambered for the 45-100 cartridge. The blue, case colors and finish are in outstanding condition. On each end of the action and on both sides are expertly carved pannels. The lever and bolt are fire blued. The wrist is very finely checkered without boarders, The grip cap and fancy butt plate are both skeleton and have checkered panels, again without boarders. The highly figured wood is crouch walnut with outstanding figure. The vernier long range sight was made by Dave as was the windage adjustable front globe sight. The action was made in 1975 and is marked on the bottom "Strurm Ruger & Co. Southport, Conn. USA". I have handled hundreds of No. 1's and this is the first I have seen so marked. The barrel is 33 1/2 inches and the gun weighs 12 pounds 3 ounces. The barrel is drilled and tapped for target scope bases. I have a set of Lyman dies and a number of cases for this rifle.
