Description:
Here we have a very hard to find example of one of the finest pump shotguns ever produced. This Ithaca 37 was produced in 1941 around the same time frame as the attack on Pearl Harbor. This was Ithaca's 4th year of production of the Model 37 and guns during this timeframe were still being hand fitted and hand checkered. You will notice that the checkering pattern on the wrist of this gun wraps around the top of the wrist. Many painstaking hours went into building these guns and they are a treasure to hold and shoot. This 16 gauge pre-war Ithaca 37 sports a 26" plain modified choke barrel with a brass bead front sight. The wood shows several small nicks and scratches from years of use but is sound with no cracks or gouges and sports its factory buttplate. The metal of the receiver still shows its polished blue with some thining on the edges. The barrel has weathered into a brown patina indiciative of its age and use but is in great condition with a mirror bore. There are a few small spots of discoloration under the magazine tube. Overall this shotgun is in great condition and is a prized example by both collectors and hunters. These early pre-war guns are not easy to find in this condition.
