Description:
This Miroku (Japan) made lever action rifle is a Winchester Model 1886 Extra Light Rifle chambered in .45-70 Government. The left side of the barrel is marked "U.S. REPEATING ARMS CO. INC., NEW HAVEN, CT U.S.A. / JAPAN/MIROKU" and at the rear with "CAL. .45-70 GOVT.". The top-rear of the barrel is marked with the ovalled "WP" proof. The top of the chamber ring is also marked with the ovalled "WP" proof. The top tang is marked "WINCHESTER / MODEL 1886". The right side of the barrel is marked "WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 EXTRA LIGHT RIFLE. WINCHESTER LICENSEE". The bottom front of the receiver is marked "00ESLR / 1549". The stocks are a 2-piece smooth walnut with capped forend, straight grip, straight comb and checkered blued (brown) steel shotgun-style buttplate. There is a light scuff mark on the left side of the buttstock. There are a couple of very light compressions, most noticeable on the bottom of the forend at the rear. There is a light 7 mm drag line on the left side of the fore end at the top. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13¼" and an overall length of 40½". The butt plate is in near perfect condition. If you're looking for a .45-70 lever gun, you can't do much better than this. This is a Winchester model 1886 Extra Light, a reproduction and variant of the original Winchester designed by John Browning. By all appearances, this one has seen almost no use and is in excellent condition. It retains almost all of its metal finish, has strong mechanics, and would make a great addition to any collection. .45-70 Government
