Description:
Serial #18842, .22 RF (black powder), 2.5 inch barrels with fine bores having strong rifling and spots of roughness. This is the Model 1A 4 shot "Pepperbox" pocket pistol manufactured by C. Sharps & Co. in Philadelphia with an 1859 patent date. In very fine condition the barrels have about 75-80% blue fading around the muzzle and along the high edges. The frame shows about 50-55% of the original silver plate worn to smooth brass along the edges. The gutta-percha grips rate excellent and the markings are crisp on this example. The action functions properly with tight lock up and proper firing pin advancement on the hammer with each pull. A very fine to near excellent example of these classic little pocket pistols. Antique
