Springfield Model 1879 Rifle (With History) 45-70 Cal ,Bore Exc, Mech Exc , Wood Exc with cartouches and initials. Has an original barrel with original sights, proof markings. The lockplate has an excellent Eagle and US Springfield marking. The bolt has the US Model 1873 marking. Serial # 251596 Mfg 1883. Also has an excellent bayonet US mkd and scabbard also an original sling in Exc condition Metal overall has a fading original blue brown patina finish with the top tang having case colors. Also Has several documents confirming that it is Sergt Walter H Johnson 13th Minn Red Wing Minn served in the Phillipines april 1898 . owned this rifle and scabbard.
