1st Year production Ruger 44 Magnum Deerstalker Carbine From the Ruger Firearms collection. Serial Number 666 with Ruger factory marked stock "NRA TEST" Mfd 1961 with Blue finish and varnished walnut carbine stock. Alloy butt plate with left side of receiver marker "RUGER DEERSTALKER". This carbine is one of the Ruger Archives / Collection that was divested in 2012. It is believed this is the first example of the 44 Carbine ever submitted to the NRA for testing and evaluation. Condition, Very fine with 99% blue finish remaining. The varnished walnut stock has some impressions on the left side. Bore is brilliant bright. Mechanically fine. Rifle is in Ruger box without label. A copy of the factory letter as well as the 1961 Rifleman article are included. As well as the sales receipt for $7045.90 when this carbine was sold by Ruger in 2012.
