The Guide gun concept was originally born in aftermarket gunsmith shops. The need was for heavy caliber defense firearms to protect their clients.Marlin began manufacturing them in their Model 1895, and this is a sample from the Remington era of the Marlin history. The Model of the gun is listed as the 1895GBL which has to stand for: G= Guide, B= blue, L= laminated., all features of this rifle. It has been fitted with a Williams peep sight for even faster target acquisition. .45-70 Government
