Description:
James Purdey & Sons 20 gauge O/U best sidelock game gun with two-sets of 20 gauge barrels.  A truly magnificent gun!  28" solid rib barrels choked 65% modified & 75% full with 3" chambers and a 26" solid rib set of barrels choked 50% improved cylinder & 65% modified with 2 3/4" chambers.

The condition of the gun is spectacular.  Start with the sidelock receiver that has 90%+ original case colors and beautiful finely polished insides.  Both sets of barrels have 98%+ original rust blued finish and mirror perfect bores.

The stock are forearm were crafted from a very fine piece of French Walnut.  The English (straight-hand) buttstock has a 15" LOP to the checkered butt with 1 3/8" drop at the comb; 2 1/8" drop at the heel and approximately 3/8" cast favoring a right hand shooter.  The forearm is fairly narrow and of proper length to be comfortable for any shooter and has an Anson push release at the muzzle end.  Both the stock and forearm are finished with a brilliant hand-rubbed oil finish that has a deep reddish brown tint.  Save for a few very tiny handling marks the stock and fore arm are 98%+

The gun comes in the maker's motor case containing the action, both sets of barrels and accessories.

With the 28" barrels the gun weighs 6 lbs. 7 oz.  With the 26" barrels the gun weighs 6 lbs. 6 oz.

Serial number 27654 and the gun was competed at Purdey, August 1972.

When you remove the gun from the motor case, put it together and "throw" it to your shoulder, you immediately know it is a Purdey Best gun in every sense!
