PENDING SALE

For sale is a very nice James Crockart Scottish sidelock shotgun in very nice condition.
James Crockart was born in 1817 opened his first shop in Blairgowrie  Scotland in 1852
and later a shop in Perthshire.  He was noted for aking fine shotguns and rifles and was
and was a award winning marksman.  After his death, Crockart gunmaking shops were
obtained by Holloway and Naughton, fine maker of English shotguns.
Additional info:
The name of Crockart and Scottish gunmaking by the Crockart family in Perthshire has been
around since 1817 when James was born.  James opened a gunshop on Leslie Street in
Blairgowie.  James had six sons, with Robert and William taking over the business of gunmaking
upon James death in 1896.  The family owned the business until 1945 as they continued to make
fine Scottish firearms.   James had another son, David, also went in gunmaking, but did not join
the firm.  Members of the Crockart family continued making fine shotguns untilm 1976 when the
last of David's sons closed his business.
This is a very fine example of a Crockart,12 guage, extractor Sidelock.  The double has very nice
engraving on the locks that are bright and crisp,  mirror bores and furniture in very nice condition
as the photos show.  From the records that could be found and history of Crockart I would place
this fine sidelock as a pre 1930 sidelock is very nice condition.  Sleeving insures bores are perfect.
