Payment Types Accepted: Cashiers Check, Money Order About Us: I'm a life-time shooter who is selling off a portion of his collection because of age. Description: This is a Pedersoli, Sharps 1863 (or 1859) breach-loading, paper-cartridge, black-powder Sharps reproduction. The caliber is .54, black-powder. The condition is as good as you will ever see in a used firearm. This firearm was a transition from muzzle-loading and ultimately metallic cartridge. It has a falling block design that opens the breach. Then a paper-cartridge is inserted. They are made by wrapping high-flammability paper (that you can buy or make) around a .54 caliber bullet, adding black-powder and twisting the end. The lever-action falling-block is then elevated, sealing the breach. Ignition is by a percussion cap. I did shoot this rife several times. I didn't bother making the paper-cartridges. Instead, I simply inserted the bullet with one or two Pyrodex pellets, added the percussion cap and fired. The rifle is very heavy with gorgeous wood and sharp, very precise checkering. The receiver and non-barrel parts are case-hardened with the case-hardening fresh and unfaded. The 32” barrel is very heavy and octagonal, finished in a dark, dark brown. The rifle has adjustable set triggers for a very light trigger pull (adjustable to even lighter if you wish) Front sight is as indicated in the photos. There are two rear sights. The first is the standard, “ladder-type” and the other is an additional tall “Creedmore” type. I purchased this firearm with the additional sights so I don't know what their brand is nor what they would cost. I have seen similar for $350 and up. Perhaps a reader can identify them. I assume this is a 1863 model rather than the 1859 model which appears identical to me. The Pedersoli pictures don't provide any visible differences except for stock designs. I have taken a great many photos of this elaborate rifle and I will supply others, if necessary, upon request. I will ship this firearm either USPS-ground or UPS-ground. I believe that it does not qualify as a “firearm” under NFA rules. So... I can ship to an individual but I will require adequate identification. Shipping costs, plus insurance and signature confirmation will be required. I cannot ship to NY, NJ, Conn. Or Mass unless we make arrangements to comply with those states specific requirements. The rifle is approximately 50” overall and weights about 12 pounds.
