Description:
Winchester Model 1897 Trench Configured . Serial no. E683040 12ga, 20" bbl with factory marked Cyl choke. Blue / Parkerized finish, walnut stock manufactured in 1918, subsequently reconfigured as a trench shotgun with added WWI era 6-hole ventalated heat shield/bayonet lug assembly marked: 'PAT.JAN. 15&MAR.19.1918. 13 3/4" lop.
Condition: Very good as refinished and reconfigured with some of the finish, cycling and edge wear, smooth brown patina on the balance. Scattered freckling with some patches of light pitting. Wood is very good with some minor dents and scratches and smail crack in the buttplate. Mechanically excellent. Also included is a US marked Remington 1917 bayonet. This gun belonged to a US Army pilot and saw action in Viet Nam per family history.
