Description: Guns Listing ID: 473319 Historical info coutesy of American Rifleman: The East German Makarov, also known as the Pistol M, or PM, is a fascinating relic of the Cold War era. While the Makarov pistol was originally designed and manufactured in the Soviet Union, it was also produced by other communist countries including China, Bulgaria and, most relevant here, East Germany. The East German variant was considered a rarity in the past, but after the collapse of the erstwhile nation in 1990, many of these pistols were imported into the United States where they found their way into the hands of shooters and collectors as military surplus. This pistol is in good mechanical condition but has some wear consistent with its age, use and likely holster wear. The bluing is at about 80%, with some discoloration in high wear areas. It does have the East German stamp, and \"64\" date. However, the prefix of \"DP\" indicates late 1963 date, so this was likely manufactured during transitional period from the end 1963 rolling into 1964. Ernst Thalmann is listed as the manufacturer as research indicates that these were made in this factory in Germany. However, the gun is not marked as such. It is recommended to do your research if the manufacturer and date are important to you. The bore and rifling appear to be in great condition, shiny and crisp. It comes with two magazines and a hard plastic case. This is C&R eligible. Due to the collectable nature of this firearm, it‚‚s age and lack of ammunition to test fire, it has not been test fired but appears to be fully functional. It is recommended to have a gunsmith inspect vintage firearms prior to firing. CAI import marked.
