Only the 2d one we've had in nearly a decade....in very nealy new and completly un fidled with condition....(rear site removed and replaced with a blank so the much better Williams Peep could be used (in factory holes). The definitive book on Marliins (Brophy) is a little sketchy on this variation but here is what it is...Startiing in 1953 (this model year) the waffle top was droppe for the then future sand blasted top of receiver (factory)..here is where it gets interesting and unique...in 1953 and 1954 the top of receiver was smooth (no waffle top) but were not factory drilled and tapped....as this super fine expample is NOT drilled and tapped. Beginning approx 1955 all models after were factory drilled for scope. Again Brophy describes the deluxe beginning in 1957 with a Bishop style Monte Carlo comb however these deluxe factory checkered models in 1953 and 1954 did not yet receiver the later Bishop Style stock.
This gun could not possibly be nicer for a 70 year old gun; the screws are prefect, the wood is perfect, the checkering is perfect, the Marlin Bullsey is still in place and there are no non factory holes of any type...this gun looks like it was never hunted. Although in true collector conditon it arrwould still make an exceptional hunting rifle with its 20" carbine barrel and overall lenght of only about 38"
You will not likley ever find a better example than this one
