The is a first generation Contender single shot pistol manufactured by Thompson Center Arms in Rochester, NH. This was from the personal collection of well known Author and authority on all things 30 Carbine, Larry Ruth and has a certificate of authenticity to provide accurate provenance. While not photographed in his War Baby book series he references these pistols on page 783 of War Baby Comes Home Volume 2 in describing the first version from Thompson Center which built them with octagon barrels from 1969 to 1978. This example is in excellent condition retaining virtually all, 99% plus original high polish blue on the barrel and frame and trigger-guard. The checkered early style walnut grips are likewise excellent. It is sighted with a T/C LOBO 1.5 power pistol scope with clear cross hair optics and still has the original front sight bead. The action functions properly and locks up tight. It comes with an original T/C branded leather pistol case and the Larry Ruth letter of authenticity. A great early Contender in a scarce caliber with an interesting provenance. FFL SOLD |
