Description:
For your consideration is a nice O. F. Mossberg Model 140K bolt-action rifle. It is chambered for .22 Short and Long Rifle cartridges. This hard-to-find model was manufactured in New Haven, Conn from 1955 to 1958.
It features a walnut stock with a smooth pistol grip, cheek plate, and Schnabel forend. The 24” barrel has an adjustable rear sight, and the box magazine has a 7-round capacity.
The rifle is fitted with a vintage Mossberg No. M4D 4x scope with clear optics. The rubber eyepiece shows some stretching.
The stock has original finish showing minor handling marks with notable scratches in the left pistol grip area. Stock is rock solid with no cracks or splits. The original butt plate is in very good condition. The trigger guard has the typical lifting.
Barrel and receiver retain 98+ % original bluing. Markings are crisp.
Bore is clean and bright with sharp rifling.
Mechanically excellent and functions perfectly, I cycled a full mag (7rds) through it without issues.
The overall condition is excellent considering the age of the rifle.
There are no serial numbers on these rifles as they were made before 1968 when it became law to have one.
