Custom Model 98 Argentine Mauser .338 Winchester Magnum. Unattributed as to maker, serial A3815 has a 24-inch light sporter barrel (.595-inch muzzle diameter). Features include a polished blue finish, jeweled bolt body and follower, Lenard Brownell bolt handle with hollow knob, custom shroud with two-position safety, custom bolt release with checkered thumb plate, Timney trigger and custom bottom metal with an inside-the-bow release button. STOCK: Shaped from AAA-grade claro walnut , formalities include a pointed ebony forend tip, 26 lines-per-inch borderless wrap checkering accented with ribbons and fleurs, bolt release pedestal, double crossbolts, scalloped cheek rest with shadow line, skeleton grip cap, inletted sling swivel studs and a Pachmayr Olde English recoil pad. All screws are timed and small screw heads are checkered. The action is glassed at the lug and the front guard screw draws down on a steel pillar. Leupold mounts (1-inch medium rings) are attached. MARKINGS: Caliber appears over chamber left and "J DEWEBER" shows on chamber right. DIMENSIONS: Weight (inclusive of mounts) is 7.8 pounds and the length-of-pull is 13.3 inches over the attached .5-inch pad. (A 1-inch Pachmayr Decelerator pad will be added at purchaser's request but will require a shipping delay of approximately four weeks). CONDITION: The bore is outstanding, strong and bright. Metal and wood finishes are each approximately 97 percent with modest suggestions of handling. Trigger pull is crisp. The price is firm and layaway is available. $3,000 plus shipping.
