This is a pre-1964 manufacture Winchester Model 70 Featherweight chambered in .30-06. Equipped with a Bausch & Lomb BALfor 4x magnification scope on a Buehler externally adjusted scope mount, this Model 70 was outfitted as a very capable North American hunting rifle complete with leather sling for those longer hikes to your favorite hunting spots. A very popular design for Winchester, the Model 70 was also made famous as the rifle used by famous Marine Corps sniper Carlos Hathcock for many of his kills in Vietnam.
This rifle is used in good condition. The finish on the receiver is has slight wear in spots and the bore is clean and shiny. The finish on the wood stock has some significant wear in spots mostly on the left side of the rifle due to significant time being carried on hunting trips. Just as with the finish on the wood stock, the scope rings on the mount have wear on the left side due to rubbing while being carried.
Though vintage and slightly heavier than modern contemporary hunting rifles, this Model 70 is still ready to hunt just about any game in North America.
