Description:
Centennial Matched Pair Marlin Model 336 & Marlin 39 "Brace of One Thousand", .30-30 & .22 long rifle cal. lever action carbines. Serial #701 and #701, mfg. 1970. Unfired in presentation case. The sublime and not often seen 100th Anniversary matched pair set of Marlin levers commemorating the 1870-1970 100th birthday of the famous company. Both carbines have the same serial number and were wonderfully engraved by Winston Churchill and Robert Kain with silver scroll receiver engraving. Brass Marlin medallion on each right receiver side with the famous "Marlin Rider" and "1870-1970" dates. Brass forearm caps and crescent brass buttplates. Special selected American Walnut stock with beautiful burl/wave figure are nicely hand-rubbed to a satin finish. 19" octagon "JM" marked barrels. Bright blue is 100%. Buckhorn rear sight sights and vintage looking front post sights with brass accents. Rare to see as only 1000 sets were made and few come onto the market. Beautifully presented in a hard case with black interior. All owners papers to include color Marlin catalog for 1970 featuring this set of rifles. Great investment firearm pieces! Untouched and have been long stored.
Note: The wood inserts that run through lever action to hold gun in position in case have come loose, an easy repair or leave as is.
