Civil War Ames Mfg. Co. Model 1850 Foot Officers Sword Presented to Lt. Timothy Canavan of the 2nd regt. Mass Vol.
A Civil War Ames Mfg. Co. Model 1850 Foot Officers Sword In Excellent Condition Throughout And Presented On The Top Mount In Fine Block & Script Letters, "PRESENTED TO/ Lieut.Timothy Canavan/in behalf of Co. I, 2nd Regt. M.V.M./ CHICOPEE, Sept 5th,1870". The sword has a excellent plus blade & markings on it. It is marked "Ames MFG. Co/CHICOPEE MASS". on one side. It has excellent etching and military motifs throughout. This includes a "U.S." & other and other military etching. It also retains all of its original frosting on the blade. The guard and pommel are excellent and both retain all of their original gold gilt on them. The original grip and wire are also excellent. The leather scabbard is excellent throughout. The scabbard fittings are also excellent and retain all of their original gold gilt on them. The top mount is stamped "AMES MFG. CO./CHICOPEE/MASS". This Is A Very High Condition Presentation Ames Model 1850 Foot Officers Sword That Deserves Further Research On It!
