CARBINE. Cal. 52. Serial number C15355. Bbl. 22", round. Blade front sight with Lawrence patent rear sight. Action has the Lawrence primer feed on the lockplate with saddle ring and bar on left side. Band-fastened forearm and straight grip walnut stock with steel carbine buttplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: includes a Civil War weapons search by Antique American Firearms in Barrington, Illinois. The search results show this Sharps carbine, S# C 15355, is a "Range Match" for the 10th Illinois Volunteer Cavalry / OCT 1863. A "Range Match" indicates this serial number is within the range of identical weapons issued to the civil war regiment listed. Therefore, a high probability exists that this piece was issued to a soldier in the regiment listed. CONDITION: Metal has faded to gray/brown showing spots of light pitting. Wood has an age-darkened appearance with dents and handling marks. Sound mechanics. Bore retains lightly worn rifling.very good to better condition. Saddle ring and bar has moderate pitting.
