Description: The Springfield M1903 is an American five-round bolt-action service rifle, used primarily during the first half of the 20th century. The top of the receiver on this example is marked "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD / ARMORY / MODEL 1903. / 1304107". The top of the barrel is marked "S A / 8 – 38" with an ordnance bomb in between. The safety is marked "SAFE READY" and the magazine cutoff is marked "ON OFF". The top of the bolt handle is marked "J with a faint 3 or 8.". The bottom of the bolt handle is punch marked. The barrel band is marked "U". The bayonet lug is marked "H". The front sight is a Redfield globe sight in a raised base. The rear sight is a "U" notched blade attached to a fully adjustable ladder marked from "3-27". The stock is a two piece hardwood stock with a straight grip, metal nose cap with bayonet lug, barrel band, two sling loops, and a metal buttplate with hinged door for storage. The stock wrist is marked "53 over a circle "P". Overall this rifle remains in very good surplus condition.
