Description:
For sale is a Queen Anne screw barrel pistol made by William Turvey, a highly respected London master gunsmith. It was likely made between 1715-1735. This pistol has seen use but not abuse, and shows honest wear and shows the wonderful, deep patina of 300 years. The maker's name on the lock plate is worn but evident, but Turvey’s “WT” and Fluer-de-Lis barrel stamp (used until about 1742) is clear. 7" long barrel and 13" overall. The bore is about .62 caliber and shows oxidation. The lug for barrel removal is worn, the main spring is weak, and the trigger guard is dented and has a period repair. The tang screw is likely a replacement. Those issues aside, it is a very respectable pistol that reflects a fine maker of the early 18th century.  This is from my personal collection.
