Early-20th Century “WILD WEST” High Capacity Revolver
Here we present a Rare 16th -Shot Neuestes Modell “Wild West” Revolver, commissioned by Niemeyer & Co. of Kreiensen (Harz), Germany, made in Liege, Belgium. This is an ingenious design with superposed barrels, a hammer with stacked firing pins, and a cylinder that has two rows of chambers. It also has a plunger type system that extracts the whole cylinder’s empties when the barrel is tilted up. The barrel and the left grip escutcheon are marked “WILD WEST”, which would have been an effort to market the gun.
Rather than fire two cartridges each time the trigger is pulled, the gun is made to stagger the chambers so as to have 16-shots instead of 8. This was made in a day in which the revolver still ruled but the magazine fed autos were coming into their own, though it would be a while until there was an auto-loader to match the firepower this revolver has.
The overall condition is very good. Original finish and patina. The action is excellent in double and single action. The bores are in good condition with nice rifling. Grips are solid.
