The serial number, 1083304, indicates it was manufactured around 1964-1965 which is a rare transitional stock. According to records, only about 7000 to 8000 were produced that had the Double Diamond press checkered stock. This is the time frame that Savage went from expensive hand checkering to press checkering. The walnut stock is in excellent original condition with no cracks or chips, and there are no noticeable handling marks It has factory installed sling studs Bluing on the barrel, receiver and butt plate is superb The receiver was drilled and tapped by the Savage factory for scope mounting Case color on the lever is very good, but shows a little wear on the loop The bore and rifling is shiny and sharp Front sight is a ramp with original gold bead Rear sight is original with a fold down semi-buckhorn and step elevator The bolt has a Damascus finish Trigger has a gold finish This item will be shipped from my FFL to your FFL.
