This is an 1890-made revolver that retains 40-50% of the original blue with silvering and gray fading at the muzzle and along the high edges and projections, and a mottled plum-brown patina on the balance. Additionally, there are areas of mild pitting and surface oxidation on the barrel, sides of the frame, along the topstrap, and on the cylinder, with the heaviest pitting occurring on the exterior of the trigger guard bow. The checkered hard rubber grips are original and numbered to the gun on the interior. The grips are in fine shape with scattered small handling marks and mild flattening to the points. The lock-up is still tight, and the action is fully functional in both single and double-action. Only 970 Model 1878 revolvers out of a total production of 51,210 were made in the .32 WCF chambering making this one of the rarer production variants. This example is in very good condition, and would make a great addition to any collection. Antique SOLD Antique: Yes |
