Description:
I have seen stunning engraving on this maker's guns before but this one takes the cake. Acres of highly detailed relief black leaf scroll with appropriate game scenes on the lockplates, seated hunter on unusual steel trigger bow with a horn tang. Interesting and fascinating take on a Lefaucheux action with the usual main lever and a secondary lever that locks the metal detachable forend in place. Very good bores, damascus 16ga x 2 9/16" barrels choked .690/.678 (light mod), very fine gold band inlays at breech. All very tight and appears to be shootable but this is a lightweight black powder gun and probably not a good idea to use full nitro loads. This gun was made for a very wealthy patron, the engraving would be five figures easily today.
