Description:
Burnside 5th model carbine in very good Cond. Stocks are unsanded with two light cartoches and great carved inscription. All metal parts are smooth with age stain and good markings. Action is perfect and hammer holds half and full cock with strong main spring. Bore has good rifling but dark with age stain. Right butt stock is carved inscription J.A. Price Corp. Co. C. 118 Ills. He is John A Price enlisted Aug.12 1862 and mustered out Oct. 1865. They were formed as infantry and were in the siege of Vicksburg and and many other battles. In Sept. 1863 they were mounted and became part of the 1st cavalry brigade of Dept. of the Gulf cavalry division and remained mounted till the end of the war so this is when they would have exchanged their mukets for carbines. Gun is 100% complete with matching searial numbers and solid ID.
