Merwin Hulbert 2nd Model Frontier 44 W.C.F with a 7 inch barrel appears to have an old re-nickle finish. The serial number #12891 appears on the Butt and #1939 is stamped on the Barrel and cylinder. The barrel top is stamped MERWIN & HUBERT & CO. NEW YORK USA PAT JAN 24 APR 21 DEC16 74 AUG 3 75 JULY 11 76 APR 17 77. PAT'S MAR 6 77. Barrel side is marked THE HOPKINS ALLEN MANUFACTURING CO. NORWICH CONN. U.S.A. Left side of the frame is marked CALIBRE 1873 WINCHESTER. Grips are perfect which leads one to believe they are repo's. Mechanically GOOD- the cylinder spins freely when not in lock up. Disassembles with knowledgeable ease. Crusty bore with good rifling.
