Description:
This bayonet was manufactured in 1906 by the Springfield Armory. The 15 15/16" unsharpened blade is blued with most of the original finish in excellent condition, marked with the S.A. Flaming bomb, 1906, marked US 113491 on the reverse, no chips, nice tip, only light oxidation on edge. The guard and pommel show light handling and use marks. The handle is the original wood scales with a dark patina and are in excellent condition. Locking mechanism works fine and attaches correctly to rifle. This correct M1917 scabbard has 75-80% finish on the steel chape/locket with light oxidation. The leather body has almost all of the original greenish finish and tight stitching, marked GF in circle for General Fireproofing Co, J G A, 283 at the throat and F.I.C the three initials of the inspector. Please see pictures for details.
