1916 Buffalo made "Newton rifle"in rare 30–06 only 10% of production was made in this caliber out of estimated 4000 guns roughly 400 were totally made in this caliber. It's one of the more desirable Newton guns seeing that ammo is easily available,all his other calibers, which included six more where His own version, example 256 Newton 6.5 cal being sold by me on guns international. I am thinning Newton collection this one is not a safe queen, but it is a safe bet you couldn't take out much better hunting deer or other animals.The Stock has been cut down with a thin pad on it. It worked for me with the heavy winter jackets, but it 13 inches. You might want to add a accelerator pad to give it a 14 inch length of pull, Odd thing is, I think the stock could be mahogany from the factory . it's got awesome double set triggers probably the best ever made. It's also a takedown by opening up the magazine cover and rotating counterclockwise. The gun comes apart in seconds. also come to the vintage Leopold very lll 3.5x10 -50 scope.Newton was often copied by gun makers and cartridge designers decades after this gun was made,in some cases he was a century ahead of his time, especially with his cartridge designs example 256 and 30 Newton transformed into the modern PRC And others.
