Description:
M1 Garand by Springfield Armory. From all indication, this WWII rifle is complete, as issued, and in excellent condition. According to its serial number, the rifle's date of manufacture is July 1944, and the barrel is also dated 7-44. The barrel has a throat gauged at 2.0 and the muzzle gauged at 1.0. It has an uncut op rod, a lockbar rear sight, and a milled trigger guard. The finishes on the metal and wood appear to be original with the correct period cartouche and ordnance escutcheon on the left side of the stock, which are light but distinct. The hinged steel butt plate shows little wear on the bottom, but behind it are the as issued cleaning tools. The stock has some dings, but is in outstanding condition for its eighty plus years of age. There is what could be a period leather sling attached, but is undated. The bolt is darker in color and could be a replacement. This M1 would obviously be an excellent addition to any collection. Buyer pays actual shipping cost.
