This is a nice Springfield Model 1903 rifle. The serial number (724,XXX) on the receiver dates it to 1917, which is a low number M1903 and has been written about many times with mixed reviews. The barrel is USMC marked and dated November 1943. Augusta Arsenal stamp on the left side of the stock. The finish on the metal is mixed with both blue and parkerized parts. Blue finish thinning on the receiver, floor plate/trigger group, and buttplate. Some light freckling and a few small pits on the receiver, and floorplate/trigger group. Mixed 1903 and A3 parts, typical for a rebuild. The wood furniture is nice but shows the typical signs of wear - bruises and dings throughout. Mint bore.
