Payment Types Accepted: About Us: I am an individual with too many guns in my safe, and I need to sell a few. Description: This is the nicest gun I own. It is a rare Midland Gun Company Best SLE, Model1730, made in about the 1920’s. It has full coverage best London style rose and scroll engraving, exhibition grade French walnut with a leather-covered butt pad. These guns were advertised as London best quality at half the price. To quote from a 1914 catalog: EVERY PART OF THE VERY BEST QUALITY, the material is all of the very best, the workmanship the best to be obtained, the engraving is a work of art, the finish and the shooting qualities cannot be surpassed. This gun is #1 of a pair, as indicated in gold on the top lever, the fore end finial, and on the top rib at the breech end. A pair sold for $116 (pounds) at the time. It was sleeved by John Rigby some time before 1989 and is the best sleeving job I have ever seen, being invisible under normal light. The barrels weigh in at 3#, and retain the best handling qualities as when new.
