Description: Minty 1946 Oberndorf Mauser Double Square Bridge Type S Factory Sporting Rifle in 7x57 with a 19 1/2" barrel. Bore is excellent. Serial number 103 WR. Mr. Roll was the head of the Mauser Sporting Arms Department from 1932 to 1945. Following French occupation of the Mauser Factory he remained at his post along with other facory employees who continued to produce rifles for occupying French, British, and American officers until July of 1946. This is one of those rare "Occupation Mausers" with the rare double square bridge solid left sidewall action. It has no Suhl proof marks. Topped with a Zeiss Zielsechs fixed power scope in claw mounts. The bolt is correctly serial numbered with a round knob as seen on both some very early and some very late Mauser sporting rifles. Flag safety, extractor, and bottom metal also correctly serial numbered. This rifle represents the end of the line for pre-War factory Mauser Sporting Rifles, the finest factory sporting rifles ever made. A very rare piece for the advanced Mauser collector that remains in near mint condition. SOLD |
