The Model 70 Featherweight Deluxe was introduced in 2008. It came with a factory Pachmayr Decelerator pad for the first time and an improved adjustable trigger. This example has a special floorplate that denotes it as "2008 Model 70 Limited Edition". It is a beautiful rifle with a deluxe American Walnut stock with fleur-de-lis checkering and a Schnabel forearm. This rifle has the controlled round feeding like the pre-64 models that made this model line famous. It has a long Mauser-style extractor and a jeweled bolt left bright. It is chambered in .270 Winchester and is in like new condition. The factory high gloss blue finish rates 99%. There are no signs of wear or thinning on any of the blued parts. The gold writing and outline on the floorplate look sharp and clean. The bore is minty and bright in this rifle. The rifling has sharp lands and grooves. The trigger guard and magazine housing are alloy and have a black finish that is nearly perfect, The factory-checkered American Walnut stock is also in excellent condition overall. The checkering is sharp and the stock looks minty. The stock features factory sling swivel studs, a black pistol grip cap, and the factory recoil pad mentioned previously. The length of the pull is 13.75 inches to the end of the pad. Everything works on this rifle 100% like the day it left the factory. This rifle comes with scope bases. This series of Winchester Model 70s was made to be as close to pre-64 rifles as possible. Winchester went back to the features that made the Model 70 the American "Gold Standard" for bolt action rifles. If you have been looking for the perfect big game rifle that you would be proud to carry in the field this rifle would be an excellent choice. The .270 Winchester chambering gives this rifle the versatility to shoot near or far and handle just about any big game you can find in North America.
