Description:
.55 cal, nvsn, all metal construction, 7 inch barrel, silver metal finish, lock plate marked "Bissell", correct proof and "RHR" barrel markings, belt hook, lobe trigger, flash hole pick,18th century.

The "Watch" was formed of "trustworthy" highlanders of clans Campbell, Grant, Fraser and Monro after the Jacobite reblion of 1715.  Their duty was to patrol or "watch" the highlands and adopted their distinctive dark or black tartan.  Organized into the 42nd Royal Highland Regiment it fought in America during the French & Indian Wars and the Revolutionary War.

Condition: smooth bore with scattered black powder oxidation, smooth silver finish overall, mechanically excellent, excellent marks.
