Description:
This is an extremely rare Colts Patent, brass legged, bullet mold that dates back to the first 1851 square-back Navy Colt. It is marked Colts Patent on the right block instead of on the sprue cutter. In all my years of collecting I have only owned one other bullet mold similar to this one. I purchased this mold from Sen. Charles Ford before his death. Because I had bought his collection of nipple wrenches he allowed me to buy as many of his bullet molds as I wanted to buy. I carefully chose what I knew to be the rarest molds he had. I saved this one for last. It has a deep, dark mustard patina and a very clear Colts Patent without the apostrophe between the t and s on Colts. It also has a small but very clear B mark on the right block underneath the Colts Patent.
