Vintage German Ortgies Patent .32 Auto Pistol
Offered here for sale and just acquired is a nice example of the popular .32 automatic pistol made in Germany between WWI and WWII. The Ortgies 7.65 mm pistol was a hammerless semi-automatic pistol that was produced in Germany in the years immediately after World War I, first by its inventor Heinrich Ortgies and then by Deutsche Werke in Erfurt. Inexpensive, but of good quality, the pistol achieved considerable success at contemporary shooting competitions and, as an export product, was popular throughout the Americas. Many of these privately purchased pistols were carried by German officers who had acquired them prior to WWII. This specimen is all original and In very good condition. Serial number 150379 the pistol had a 3.25 inch barrel and retains the great majority of its original finish. It was in its day subject to light use but evidently withimproper storage picked up some surface patina which cleaned off mostly but gives the pistol a smooth speckled appearance. Markings sharp. Original magazine. Still an excellent collectible and for the vintage shooting enthusiast of very nice specimen. L93
