Sharps rifles are a series of large-bore, single-shot, falling-block, breech-loading rifles, beginning with a design by Christian Sharps in 1848 and ceasing production in 1881.This example has a 32" octagon barrel with a Globe front sight with crosshair insert. The rear sight is a flip-up ladder marked from 1-8 with a small notch sight when the ladder is folded down. Both front and rear sights are dovetailed into the barrel. The tang sight on this example is missing. The stock set is a two piece smooth walnut with a straight grip, straight comb, Schnable type forend, and a case colored smooth buttplate. This example appears to have been shot very little, but show some minor surface marks. No box. .45-70 Government SOLD Chambers: Single shot falling block.
