For your consideration, the Remington M541X Target bolt-action rifle chambered in .22 LR. These were produced under military contract from 1984-86, around 9,000 were made. This one is marked U.S. property, the barrel code puts it being manufactured in September 1985. The peep sights were removed at some point, and they've mounted a scope instead. .22 Long Rifle
