Description:
Baby Carbine with the 20 inch barrel being slimmer and lighter than on a standard carbine. The lighter weight of 5-1/2 pounds is also an indication that it is a Baby Carbine. Overall metal is mostly a grey with some brown starting to appear. Good markings. Bore is somewhat dark with scattered roughness. Original sights with the front having a smaller profile than the standard carbine. Also a ladder rear sight and a folding Lyman tang sight. Original saddle ring. Nice action. Wood is very good with a carbine style buttplate. These Medium Frame Lightnings were made from 1884-1902 and this one was made in 1896. Baby Carbines are scarce in 44-40 caliber and this one is sure to fill a hole in any Colt collection.
