Description:
This is the best example of a USMC rebuild that I have ever seen. The condition appears to be unissued since rebuild. This one still has the cardboard wick in the barrel and hand markings on the stock, op rod, and trigger group as seen in the pix. The marines had a program rebuilding garands in the mid 1960s. The receiver markings are O-65, O-66, O-67 denoting the year of rebuild. This one is marked O-66 as seen on the receiver heal between the serial number and the rear sight. Like a lot of these, it is lightly marked. The TE is 4 and MW is 2. The receiver dates to 1943. It will likely be impossible to find a finer example of this marine variant garand.
