Payment Types Accepted: Bank to bank wire transfer (preferred), or bank cashier's check only Description: A very sharp Winchester Model 1873 in scarce 22 Long caliber. This rifle actually letters as a 22 S as shown, so it was apparently rebarreled/converted to 22 Long some time later. This conversion is believed to have been done at the factory due to the genuine factory proof stamps on the barrel and receiver. S/N 556090 made in 1901. The rifle shows strong original bluing throughout with very little wear beyond some typical modest flaking and toning of the receiver. The wood finish is also excellent and bright. There is an old repaired longitudinal age crack on the upper left forearm. The buttstock has had some flutes added to forward portion of comb. It wears a correct crescent plate in very good condition. 24" octagon barrel with a very good-excellent bright bore. Full length magazine tube. The inner loading plunger remains in immaculate condition. The brass cartridge lifter is correctly marked as 22 Long caliber. Factory option sights include a folding Lyman combination front and Winchester sporting rear. All mechanical functions are crisp and proper. A unique and very sharp rifle in hand. Comes with the Cody Museum research letter previously mentioned. Expedited and fully insured shipping from Alaska is additional $100. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
