Description:
Merrill Civil War Carbine First Model type, 54 cal Bore is VG strong rifling. Mech VG works well, Wood is original and has a crack on right side from tip of the tang to rear of the plate and not loose or wiggly and has a brass patch box on right side. Has a original 22 1/8” Rd barrel with original sights. The lockplate has VG markings Merrill address and patent dates and Serial #3959 matching to the rear of the plate. Has original saddle bar and ring on left side. Has Brass buttplate, triggerguard,patchbox and barrel band. Metal overall has an aged blue brown patina finish with some fine pitting in areas. Has a merill balto and date marking on the top of the lever.
