Hard to find Pre War Model 70 in 270 caliber.
S/N 47870 with matching bolt made in 1942.
There is no real shortage of Pre 64 Model 70s in 270 caliber from the transition years on, but they have always been VERY difficult to locate in this Pre War configuration.
This one is an extremely clean, sharp looking, and scarce rifle being priced as a shooter grade due to one non factory scope mounting hole in the rear receiver bridge, and the nicely added Super Grade sling swivels. (factory parts, not repros).
Bright, original finishes average 95% over most with some additional carry wear showing on several of the metal components such as floorplate, buttplate, and muzzle area. The wood remains very fine with only minor marks.
The 24" barrel has an excellent, bright bore. All mechanical functions are butter smooth and crisp as well, very typical of these premier era rifles.
The barrel channel and inner components have been carefully inspected and remain clean and unaltered in any way.
Should make someone a fantastic and reliable hunting or range companion, representing the finest sporting rifle ever made in a very popular and versatile caliber.
