Description: ***** SALE PENDING GREG S. 3/8/2025 ***** In 1931, Marlin offered the Model 47 as a free bonus to anyone purchasing 4 shares of preferred Marlin stock for $100. The rifle was never listed in any Marlin catalogue, and only approximately 5,000 rifles were manufactured. The rifle features a 23" round barrel, walnut stocks checkered in a diamond pattern, blued barrel and magazine tube, case hardened receiver, "S" curve steel butt plate, open sights, pump action, take down frame, handling 18 short, 12 long or 11 long rifle cartridges. The Model 47 is unique due to the style by which the case hardening was applied to the receiver by being dipped into molten cyanide, giving a tiger striped appearance, which this receiver still shows traces of, while being the only Marlin pump .22 that had checkered wood as standard. CONDITION: Barrel exhibits 80% original blue/plum mix. Receiver retains 70% finish with traces of the tiger stripe case hardening, the remainder a mottled plum appearance. The action functions properly, the hammer has a very strong spring, and the half cock safety also functions properly. The correct factory open sights remain. The checkering is all there and still quite good on the fore arm, with the checkering on the wrist of the butt stock worn a little more smooth. The mag tube retains 60% original finish that has turned a dark brown, with the expected wear at the receiver end from the pump action. The butt plate retains 80% bright original blue. The bore is a 9.75 of 10, bright and shiny with very sharp rifling, no pitting or questionable spots whatsoever; someone took very good care of the rifle and doesn't seem to have been fired much. Both stocks are sound with no splits or cracks, never sanded or refinished, exhibiting expected nicks and dings of a 94 year old rifle. All the markings are correct and sharp. This is an incredible piece of Marlin firearms history and a must-have in your collection. TERMS: No international sales. No sales to Alaska and Hawaii.
